Joy Georgeson - Ceramic Sculpture My ceramic sculpture is about my instinctive and emotional relationship with Nature. I strive to capture a sense of dynamic life force through visual movement and rhythm. I am intrigued by the structural links between organisms, such as the curves of a body and the petals of a flower. Clay is my chosen medium because it incorporates the elements of earth, air, water and fire. Clays' versatility allows me to interpret forms, colours and textures in a variety of firing methods including Raku, pit-firing and mid-range. The Far South Coast of New South Wales, the high plains of the Monaro and Victorias' remote south east coastline are the main sources inspiration in my work. I have a bush block on the edge of the escarpment where I have close contact with flora and fauna of the region. I believe that we are an integral part of Nature and my work strives to convey the physical and psychological dependency between humans and the natural environment.
